        ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Romola O. Savellon is the founding curator of the Cebu Normal University Museum (inaugurated 1998). As a cultural worker, she has documented aspects of the cultural heritage of Cebu, for which she has developed a thorough appreciation largely through her anthropology courses at the University of San Carlos, where she finished at writing using the classic Cebuano language. She is the founding curator of the Cebu Normal University Museum. She currently teaches part-time at St. Theresa's College, Cebu City. She got the idea for the stories in this book after the museum launched an exhibit of the photographs of Kempeitai prisoners in Cebu, one of whom was her own father, Eduardo Ouano. This is her second book with USC Press (now known as USC Publishing House) . The first one, Mga Karaang Sugilanon sa Banilad (Folk Tales of Banilad), was published in 2012. Incidentally, Dr. Savellon is a proud graduate of USC.
